Access points
To be able to use Wayfinder Access™ you need to be able to connect to the Internet from your mobile phone. To be able to connect to the Internet you need to have a working Internet Access Point.
An Internet access point consists of the address to the Internet connection of your mobile operator. 3G subscribers connect via 3G and usually have an Internet Access Point preinstalled. If you don’t have an access point and need help to set one up, please contact your mobile operator.
Please note that you will need to access the Internet via 3G, GPRS Internet or Edge. WAP or GPRS-WAP are not sufficient.
Connecting Wayfinder access to a GPS receiver
The GPS receiver is connected via Bluetooth (if you don't have a mobile phone with an integrated GPS). It should not be placed more than 10 metres/30 feet from the phone. The GPS receiver gets signals from the satellites when it is placed in clear view of the sky.
Move to an open area if you are close to tall buildings or other objects that may impede the connection. On your first try it could take a few minutes, and even up to twenty minutes. After frequent connections to the satellites, the signals are received within a few seconds. Follow the instructions below to connect your external GPS.
One. You will need a GPS receiver to receive GPS position data and to fully use the Wayfinder application. If you don't have a GPS, you can still plan routes but you will not be able to navigate and get voice instructions. Please follow the instructions below to connect a GPS receiver.
Two. To begin with, charge the battery of the GPS receiver before you turn it on.
Three. Please read the instructions manual that came with your GPS receiver.
Four. Make sure that the GPS has a clear view of the sky; e.g. put it next to a window if you are inside a building or on the dashboard of your car.
Five. Wait until the receiver indicates that it is receiving signals from the satellites.
Six. Open the Wayfinder application on your phone. You should be asked to connect to a Bluetooth device. Answer yes.
Seven. Select your Bluetooth GPS receiver from the list. Wayfinder Access will tell you if the GPS are connected or not.
PIN codes
Sometimes you need a PIN code when connecting the GPS receiver. The PIN code for the GPS receiver differs depending on the brand. Most GPS receivers (including the Wayfinder GPS) use 0000, with the exception of:
Emtac: 0183
Falcom Navi: 1111
Holux: 0000 or 6268
M-tec: 0183
Parrot: 1234
Royal Digital: 1234
If you have another GPS receiver, and 0000 is not working, please check with the GPS supplier to find out the PIN code.
How to use access: menus
Main menu
When the Wayfinder application starts, the main menu is displayed.
The main menu consists of four main alternatives:
Map: Show the map, show your position on the map (if GPS is connected), select positions as start, destination or favorites.
Find: Make a search, use the search results start, destination, save as favourite or show it on the map.
Favorites: Manage your favorites, show favorites on the map or use as start or destination.
Services: Additional services such as whether information, currency converter, public transportation information etc.
In the left hand corner of the screen the menu alternative Options is displayed - use your left soft key to bring up this alternative. Here you can go to the Mobile shop, send a Wayfinder trial invitation to a friend, load and save routes, submit your activation code, connect/disconnect to/from GPS and more.
The right soft key on your mobile phone is the Back/Exit button.
Wayfinder Access Tabs
If you use your joystick or joypad to go to the right from the main menu, a range of vicinity tabs are displayed. These tabs display information about your position and map information such as locations, crossings and points of interest in your vicinity. Most items on these tabs can be used as destinations for a route, shown on the map and saved as favorites. The following tabs are always present:
Vicinity All tab - show all map information in your vicinity
The Vicinity Crossing tab - show all intersections in your vicinity
The Vicinity Favorites tab - show all favorites in your vicinity
The Vicinity POI (points of interest) tab - show all points of interest in your vicinity
Wayfinder Access can be used in many ways: to navigate to a position selected from the map, a search or a favorite, or to use the tabs to get updated information of your position and what is in your vicinity. You can at all times select locations in your vicinity as your destination, as long as you have a GPS receiver connected.
In addition to this, the "Where am I?" functionality is always available when you have GPS receiver connected - if you go to the Vicinity tabs (to the right from the Main menu), press Options and then My position, your text to speech software will tell your exact position!
Wayfinder Access will have limited navigation & vicinity functionality without a connected GPS receiver, however you may still be able to make searches, manage favorites, calculate routes etc. Remember to activate your text to speech software before starting up Wayfinder Access.
Navigating
It is possible to calculate a route in many ways - you can select to navigate to a search result, a favorite, a location on the map or in your vicinity (from the vicinity tabs) - but the general way doing it is the same for all alternatives:
Make sure you are connected to your GPS receiver.
Select a position from the map, a search, a favorite or a location in your vicinity.
When selecting an item, position or location, press the left soft key to bring up the Options menu.
Select Navigate to. You can also choose to use the selected position as a starting position, to show it on map and more.
A turn-by-turn view will be shown and you will now be guided to your selected destination! If you now press right on your joystick or joypab an itinerary of your route will be shown. Go to the right again and information such time and distance left to destination will be shown. All other vicinity tabs are also available, as well as the main menu.
Guide view screen while navigating. Top name on screen is next road name, main symbol shows next turn, small symbol on the top right shows next turn after that. Status bar on right shows distance to next turn. Bottom left is current road name.
Please note that you can also choose to use most selected search results/favorites/locations as either starting points or destinations, if your starting point is not the same as your present position (not possible for locations in your vicinity since these depend on your position).
Making a search
To make a search and find a search result to navigate to, select Search in the main menu.
Enter a street or a company name in the first search field. If you have a street or house number, enter that in the second field. Enter the city you want to search in, or choose to use your GPS position. Repeat this for the country field.

Select your desired search result, press Options and then choose to navigate to, save as a favorite, show on the map and more!
